Speeches of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple, Frisco, TX, USA – July 5, 2025

Speech in the morning after Abhisheka for Karya Siddhi Hanuman & Sri Chakra Puja

Harihi Om Namaha Shivaya
Veera Hanuman ki Jai!

Swamiji advises that there be baby sitting in the temple so devotees can focus on Dattavani and other rituals. Swamiji says there will be no Datta Vani or Bhajans if there is no babysitting.

Volunteers must be firm in ensuring parents with little children are not allowed in during Dattavani and Bhajans and are sent to babysitting instead.

The children here did a wonderful job. The Maharshis in Bhagavatam and Mahabharatam chanted the kavachas taught by the Devatas. Memorizing the kavachas is a big tapas, a merit carried over from past lives. The children must continue for the rest of their life, but if they forget these mantras and fall into bad company and other unncessary distractions, everything will be destroyed.

Kavacha mantras are very powerful. Bad friends, too much computers, phones, etc., will destroy all this. If you do not have a lot of merit, you would not be able to memorize the kavachas. This is a big task, it is not easy to memorize the kavachas. It is the merit of prior births by you and your parents. Continue chanting, and in the future, read Bhagavatam and Mahabharatam. Then, you will understand the energy of the kavacha, who gave these mantras to whom, who got the merit, etc.—you will understand.

Even normal good people cannot easily chant these kavachas. If you can memorize these kavachas, you can learn anything, not just Bhagavad Gita. You can learn any tough mantras, as long as you keep up. But fighting with parents at home, spending too much time on phones, bad friends, excursions, bad/fast food will all ruin this. All this must be in control. Then, your life will be fulfilled. You will find a good job. If you find a good partner, great. If not, it is fine. There is no rule that one must get married.

I am recommending people to be happy when they are not married. In the last 5 years, I have given up and I recommend to people that they not worry about getting married (if they are not married for a long time). Boyfriends are all mental—they deceive. It is hard to trust them. Yesterday, someone was crying about not getting back the 40 lakhs that they donated to someone. They had donated to someone who used the visit the Ashram even though they did not know them very well. Never get into money lending matters like this. If you give to someone—even if you know them well—do not give out loans. You will lose the money. If you wish, you can donate the money to them. If you come to Me and cry, I will not help you.

Even if you think they play music for Swamiji or dance for Swamiji and help them, I will not be quiet. You must not give money like that. You will lose the money. We are ourselves in difficulty—how will we give to others? If you really want to give something to someone, give them food for a day. You must be firm. You work hard to earn that money.

When that person cried yesterday about losing that money, I felt bad for him. He said he gave that money because the borrower used to come to Swamiji. The man never spent that much on Swamiji or on Pujas. I did not comfort him. I dismissed him. You can feed the one asking for money, for one day, but giving up everything for others is not compassion. It is deception. Do not deceive yourself. Only trust yourself and God, not others.

Give to God. We do not give to God—we instead give to people we barely know. Instead, you can place the money at Swamiji’s feet. I’ll take care.

Telephone is as good as it is bad.

Kavachas, Vishnu Sahasranama, Lalita Sahasranama, Bhagavad Gita—if we memorize these, they will protect us all our life.

Ajamila had been a good upasaka all his life, but later in life, he fell into bad company. He deceived his family and due to bad company lost all his wealth. Many of you play games on the phone—you will lose the money. If you get phone messages that seem suspicious, be careful. There are so many kinds of scams. The scam messages might come from known contacts. If they come from unknown contacts, do not even open them.

Ajamila had destroyed everything in his life due to bad company. He fell into bad ways such as robbery, deception, etc. He had named his last son Narayana. Finally, it was time for Ajamila to leave the planet. When Yama’s messengers came to take him, he called out his last son’s name. Then, Vishnu’s messengers came to take him since he chanted the Lord’s name. Then, Yama’s messengers said the man was evil, and was only calling out to his son due to attachment. But it did not matter—Vishnu’s attendants insisted.

That does not mean you can live life with deception and chant the Lord’s name at the end. It will not be possible to chant the Lord’s name at the end if our life is not righteous. Yama’s messengers let him go. Ajamila realized his mistake and gave up everything and went to Ganga and prayed. He lived a little longer and sat there doing tapas. In that manner, Narayana saved Ajamila.

Dhruva’s story was similar. God appeared in front of him within 6 months. The Maharshis wondered how this happened so fast when it took the Maharshis so many years. In Dhruva’s prior life, he was a monk who did tapas for 9,999 years and six months. He was at a riverbank when he saw a prince and wondered how nice it would be to be a prince. Immediately, the monk dies and is born as Dhruva, a prince. Then, the story of Uttanapada (father), Suneeti and Suruchi follow, that you know of. Dhruva wanted to sit on his father’s lap, but when his step mother did not allow him to, his mother encouraged him to find God. So, the six months of tapas that was left in his prior birth, Dhruva completed in this life.

That is why we should work on the goal of akshara laksha (One lakh chants per letter of the syllable in the mantra). People that are doing this are constantly chanting the mantra no matter what they are doing. The mantra keeps running in their mind. Ajapa japa—effortless chanting with the breath.

Narada, Adi Shankara and others came as Gurus to help us. Within 30 years of Krishna leaving the planet, Kaliyuga entered. Even Parikshit had to face difficulties. Kali throws people into maya, makes people mad about money, marriage, work, children, court, ego. They have no patience, no peace. They are irritated with the spouse, and bored with them. But we should never get bored with chanting God’s name. The moment you think it’s boring, you become rakshasa. The next birth will be that of a rakshasa.

In Guru’s seva or thinking of Guru, you should never be bored. We get bored at home, with food, with relationships, or even to breathe. But we should never be bored of chanting God’s name. We are very fortunate to chant God’s name.

You are all sitting in padmasana—you are sitting out of love for Me. This is yoga. You must also practice sitting on the floor at home, especially during puja. Those who cannot due to back pain or knee pain or some surgery, of course can sit on the chair. But we should practice sitting on the floor. Those who have good health should not sit on the sofa for long. Even if you have a sofa at home, sit on the floor and watch TV. Knowing Swamiji is going to visit in a few months, practice sitting on the floor every day for 45 minutes to an hour. Make this a practice. This is called asana siddhi.

Go to northern India, Uttar Pradesh, etc., you will see that they study the Bhagavatam in every household. You can watch TV to see discourses where thousands of people sit on the floor for several hours. Those who have knee pain and are much older sit on the sofa, but thousands of people sit on the floor and listen. The speaker sings the same song for two hours, he does not even narrate much story, but the audience is very engaged. They are all well-settled people with good jobs. You can watch this happen on channels like Aastha TV, etc. We get ashamed when we see those people sit for 6 hours straight for discourses. Doctors, IAS officers are all in the audience. They take off from work to come listen to Bhagavatam Saptaham.

They sit from 4 pm till late in the night, for at least 5 hours. How do they sit for so long? That is a lot of practice. But our Andhra people cannot sit like that. They eat a lot and have pains all over the body. That is nothing but body fat. They keep complaining of pain. You can still try to sit—what’s the worst that’ll happen? Your legs will fall asleep. Let them.

Dhruva subsisted on just one fruit a day, then on leaves and then only on water. And then, he arrested air and did penance. And then, he stood on one leg and continued. He forgot his body and did penance.

We care about the body so much—the body is everything for us. We have great love for the body. If there is a tiny ant under our clothes, we cannot sit still until we take it out and squish it. We are trying to meditate, and a mosquito distracts us. We lose focus and keep following the buzzing mosquito and finally kill it and take so much joy because that mosquito was sucking our blood. When you concentrate on the mosquito, you cannot even hear the bhajans—you are so focused on that mosquito.

Swamiji went to a place in Delhi where there was dirty water flowing nearby. There were so many mosquitoes, but people were used to it and they sat still. They use natural remedies (cut lemon with cloves and turmeric) or smoke to keep the mosquitoes away. Of course, the place was smelly, but the people did not bother.

In Uttar Pradesh, there are strict rules for hygiene and health, but when they sit to listen to Bhagavatam, they do not care about mosquito bites. When someone in the family passes, they organize Bhagavatam discourses during the following days and everyone overcomes the grief thereafter.

That is the greatness of people in India. You are all lucky, you are here, you have a temple, you are following Sadguru Swamiji. Do not lose this. Think: “We went to see Swamiji—what gem did Swamiji give our intellect, what is the main message from today? This message is for me”.
We should believe the message is for us. In the last moments, this will help us. God gave us enough to help and donate to others. God gave us good enough health to do seva.
Keep doing that.

Speech in the evening during Divya Nama Sankeertana

We are very far from God. We should reach Him, so we should keep doing these programs continuously. We need to take birth again and again, so Paramatma gave us this body in the form of Nature. We should merge into that Nature. This body has come about incidentally, we did not ask for it consciously, but we did ask for it.

When we have some suffering in the body, we ask for various things, we curse. All those are desires. All the curses come back to us. God takes nothing. It’s like the ball that bounces back from the wall. God gives us back. keeping the mind elsewhere, standing in front of God is not important. The mind should be fully surrendered to God along with Bhakti and Nama Sankeertana. Keeping he mind elsewhere and paying lip service about offering everything to God is in vain.

The Bhagavad Gita talks about ‘Patram Pushpam Phalam Toyam’ – Leaf, flower, fruit, water – these are very important. Leaf is like the body because it will dry an fall away one day, it will burn. Flower is akin got the intellect. It’s like an offering to God. The Lord likes the lotus a lot because the Lord is often praised as one with a lotus navel, lotus like eyes. The Sahasrara is like a lotus too. Life should leave us through that lotus, as it does for mahatmas, if not, they break a coconut on the top of the heads of those great souls. we don’t know through which aperture in the body of the nine we have that vayu escapes When we die. God is in all parts of the body. When the mukhya prana goes away, the body drops. Therefore, we should never compare with God and say God is equal to us. WE are born with Karma.

God transcends gunas, he has all three gunas. We hang by each guna. We are mostly with Tamo guna – excessive anger, ego, hunger, thirst, dissatisfaction, suffering etc. The body is filled with impurities. What we take out from ears, nose and mouth are all impurities. The body is filled with it. But teh great souls say this body is wonderful because without this kshetra, we cannot realize god. We are listening to Bhagvtam in this kshetra. I am very happy.

During these Guru Purnima event, each event is superior in its own right. Bhagavad Gita parayana, concert, bhajans and so on. This is not the bhajan we do for pastime. We are making good use of time with this. May go to movies, picnic or pick a fight to pass time. It is so hard to find time, we should not pass time, we should make good use of it. WE should get benefit from time, not waste it. Passing time is not good. That is not even a good phrase to use. You have to do nothing to pass time, it’ll pass on its own. You must utilize time. Count how many hamsas and how many seconds we live, assuming we live for 80 or 100 years. Put every second to good use.

The Saptaham is very good event. Everyone participate in it. There will be no live cast, so you have to come here and watch. If there is no space here, you can watch from the kitchen where we’ll have monitors. A very special event is that Venkataramana swamy is coming. The Lord is coming after his disciple arrived and arranged for everything. That is why Hanuman came long ago and got everything ready and now the Lord is coming. This is also a very good event.

Wherever Hari Nama Keertana happens, Hari bhaktas are present. Unlike you they are without fickleness and without phones. They might appear in the form of people you know as well. Wherever Hari Nama Sankeertana happens, the 12 supreme devotees of Hari are present – Prahalda, Narada, Parashara so on. Hanuman is definitely present. So, when we chant, chant with great devotion and reverence. We are chanting and singing along with everyone else. Sage Suta, when he discoursed on the great scriptures, there used to crores of saints listening. Naimisharanya used to be full. The trees would talk, the deer would be still, elephants, snakes, tigers would all listen. What great fortune! When he could narrate Bhagavatam, all living beings would listen, even the trees would stand still. Not even wind would make a sound to make sure there was no disturbance to the narration. Even rains would not disturb during the narration. It would only rain after. Bhagavatam has such a great place. When we have devotion to God, He grants everything. If not, He punishes us appropriately and immediately. God is so compassionate.
If we worship Mother, she grants the greatest treasure. Material wealth is trivial. But that great treasure is priceless. What is that.
