Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – Bhajan Session – March 20, 2018 – Hyderabad

Compiled by: Smt Hira Duvvuri

Bhajan: Gowrisuta

Ganapati bhajan composed in Vizag during the consecration of Chintamani Ganapati. Raise your hands, those who have visited the temple. Sindoora application is given to the idol. You can get very close to the deity to offer your prayers. Very beautiful Murti.

Bhajan: Shreem Shreem Shreem

Who are all watching the Bhagavatam episodes shown on ETV? All of you must watch. 10th canto is being shown now. Very to easy to understand. The following two cantos are very tough to understand the meaning. Don’t worry. You have never heard the original Bhagavatam before from any other person. Swamiji alone has attempted this. Very difficult to understand. Unless you listen 7 times, you cannot follow the spiritual content. Think that you will understand the meaning. The entire story is covered again for the benefit of King Parikshith. He was told that if he listens to the Bhagavatam in 7 days, he will get liberated. Death is inevitable for anyone. Don’t fear death. Be ready. It is just a journey. A growth. You are spending away your lifetimes to reach the end. It may take eons, because of repeated sins. Continuing past tendencies. Not getting released from the shackles. Keep your focus on Paramatma. Keep doing Satsang. Keep doing good deeds.

Many devotees who were smokers, were told to stay with Swamiji. They could not smoke then. That way they got weaned from the addiction.

The story of Akrura is wonderful in the Bhagavatam. Kamsa sends Akrura to fetch the brothers Balarama and Krishna who were just 12 years old. Kamsa failed to get Krishna killed by other demons. He had to do it himself. Kamsa and Duryodhana were both constantly engrossed in remembering Krishna, despite being wicked at heart.

You realize Swamiji’s value only when you are away from him. Your devotion grows. Kamsa felt great enmity towards Krishna. Was afraid of death at his hands 24/7. Kamsa saw Krishna even in inanimate objects, like swords, seats, beams on the ceiling, or pillars. We cannot do it. In pots, plants, trees, in cots, he imagined Krishna’s presence. He slept naked on bare floor, afraid of sheets and clothes. He was afraid of water also, and of food. In every morsel he saw Krishna. He saw Krishna in his wife, ministers, and subjects. He was afraid the crown contained Krishna and might smash his head. He could not enjoy his food. Such Kamsa was a great devotee and hence, was killed by Krishna himself.

Akrura has a doubtful mind. He was a devotee. Different types of devotion is shown in Bhagavatam. Krishna is Sampoorna Avatara. Complete incarnation. Every page, every verse of Bhagavatam is a drop of nectar. Gopikas’s Rasa Krida is marvelous. Do not miss the episodes.

Akrura is free from cruelty. Always peaceful. Always pious and pure. He is related to Krishna in two ways. Akrura, dispatched to bring the brothers, wonders why he was chosen to take them to their deaths. Then he pacifies himself that they are divine and cannot be harmed. He had heard all the stories of Krishna’s miracles. He kept arguing within himself of all possibilities of harm coming to Krishna. Wept with doubts and fears. He entered Gokula. Gopikas hated him for coming to take their Krishna away. Akrura greeted everyone, and they were angry at him. He gave the news to Yashoda and Nanda. They were very upset. The boys got ready at once. They sat on the chariot.
Gopikas cursed Krishna that he did not even bid them good bye when he left with Akrura. Swamiji explained in detail very beautifully. You may hear the story here later. Not now.

Bhajan: Om Namo Narayana Krishna

Swamiji’s favorite parrot Varam sings Om Namo Narayana Krishna daily. People don’t remember Narayana but the bird does, repeatedly. If I say, sing something else, it sings the Hanuman Chalisa, Jaya Hanuman Jnana Guna Sagara. It is a wonderful bird. Very entertaining. If anyone comes, it asks, Who is it? I miss it. From just listening, it learned this song. It also chants many mantras.

Recently a senior bird, Vana, passed away. It saddens me a lot. It was ill for sometime. Many doctors tried to treat it. I used to call it my mother or grandmother, since it was old. It was okay while I was there. I knew it would not survive my absence. As I expected, it breathed its last. I have a very close relationship with birds. They are all devotees like you, reborn as birds. I pray that these birds get a higher birth next time. See, I remembered them now.

One more bhajan

Bhajan: Nirguname nee gunamu

(Summary meaning of the thrilling Siva bhajan: O Siva, you have no attributes whatsoever. You are without any Gunas. That being so, why this huge affair of Creation with its trials, tribulations, and activities? While you are everything that exists, why this puppet show, O Siva? You yourself are earth, water, fire, air, and space, constituting this entire creation. Why do you then need Abhishekam/sacred ablutions with different materials? You are the Lord who creates and sustains all living beings, O Siva. That being the case, why do you require from us, offering of food? Is it because you want me to open my eyes to realize you within myself, and experience my oneness with you? Is it to reveal your secrets to me, grant me bliss, and to help me transcend the three Gunas? In Kanchipuram you are Kailasanatha as Earth; in Srirangam you are Jambunatha as Water; in Arunachala, you are Iswara in the form of Fire; In Kalahasti you are Vayu Linga, representing the Air element; At Chidambaram, you are the cosmic dancer, ecstatic Nataraja in your Space element. You are subtle, gross, and causal, all rolled into one. Please remove my troubles, destroy the inner enemies, and give me the experience of Sat, Chit, and Ananda, Eternal Existence, Pure Consciousness, and Supreme Bliss.)

Bhajan: Marutiraya Balabheema

This was composed during the consecration of Karya Siddhi Hanuman in Bengaluru ashrama. Very nice bhajans in the Nadanjaneya collection.

I wish to recognize and bless the devotees who were main donors for this hall.

Datta devotees are very lucky to get Pada Sparsha/touching the feet of Swamiji this year. Now for a few days Swamiji will be traveling to Warangal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, etc. to give darshan to devotees who have been longing to see Swamiji.

During Rama Navami, the great celebration, you should all participate in the Kalyanam event. This time, Swamiji has brought with him the original ancient Saligrama which depicts the Sri Rama Parivara/entourage. It is a rare sight to see. Swamiji rarely removes it from his personal altar. All of you participate as the main performers of the wedding.

Sri Guru Datta
