Om Ayim Hreem Shreem Shiva Rama Anagha Dattaaya Namaha

At the start of this mantra is Omkara. Not enough can be said about the greatness of Om. Vedas came from Om and Om is the root of this creation. For attaining self-realization, this is the most valuable mantra.

Ayim is the seed letter for worship of Mother Sarasvati or the Goddess of Knowledge. By worship of this seed letter, one attains Jnana, enhancement in education and expansion in intellect. This mantra removes the dormancy of intellect. Due to the power of worship of this mantra, man becomes intelligent and knowledgeable.

Hreem is the mantra for worship of Mother Durga. This is very powerful seed letter. By worship of this letter, man becomes free from disease, attains a strong body and becomes powerful. His courage, bravery and competence in tasks increase. He attains fame.

Shreem is the seed letter for worship of Mother Lakshmi who grants all kinds of prosperity. By worship of this seed letter, one gains all 8 kinds of wealth. This seed letter grants nine kinds of treasures. Those who worship this letter become wealthy and virtuous.

Due to the power of these powerful seed letters in the mantra, the Gods themselves honored these Goddesses. Lord Brahma had Saraswati in the form of seed letter Aim seated on his tongue. Vishnu established Lakshmi in his heart and Shiva made Mother Parvati half his form, while also placing Ganga on his head. When Gods themselves worship women, men must learn to respect the womenkind.

The word Shiva means auspiciousness. During the churning of the ocean, the Lord drank poison to protect the world. What other proof do we need of Lord Shiva’s compassion?

After Shiva’s name comes Sri Rama’s name. Sri Rama is the epitome of Dharma. By remembering his name, one attains perfection in the four goals of human birth.

Agha means sin. Anagha means one who destroys sin. She is the consort of Lord Datta and is his yogic power. The 8 accomplishments are their children. Through constant remembrance of this sinless mother, man attains godhood.
Finally comes Lord Datta’s name. Datta means one who gifts himself away. Datta who is the form of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, is the primordial Guru. He uplifts all beings – human, demon, celestials are all his disciples. By his grace, one attains perfection in Yoga.

So why this unique mantra filled with seed letters that is related to the so many gods and goddesses? In reality, God is only one. “Tameka devam sharanam vrajamaha”. But he gives Darshana in different forms, is famed with various names and adorned with various virtues. This is the principle this mantra reveals. It also teaches us that eventually, since all is one, it is not right to view them (Gods) as different.

Come, let us all chant this supremely sacred mantra together. There are no rigorous rules required to chant this mantra. Anyone can chant this mantra anywhere, at any time. There are no differences of high and low or night and day to chant this mantra. You can chant this while doing all your activities. In Trinidad, hundreds of thousands chant this mantra every day. By chanting this (incessantly) along with one’s breath, one attains wonderful results. Swamiji, for the sake of universal welfare, is organizing this Japa Yajna. You too can chant this mantra along with your family. Earn God’s blessings and participate in universal welfare.
