821. Brahmāṇī

Meaning- She is the wife/energy (shakti) of the four-faced Brahma.

She instills life force into Brahma and hence is Brahmāṇī. She is the foundational support (moola sutra) for existence of Brahma.

What do the 4 faces of Brahma symbolize? They teach us that in this world creations are of 4 classifications-

Jarayuja- Human beings and animals born out of a mother’s womb (mammals) are Jayayuja.
Andaja- These are egg-born creatures. Birds, fish or animals that hatch from an egg are Andaja.
Swedaja- They are the tiny insects or worms that are born from sweat or from unwanted waste such as dung etc.
Udbhija- those insects that emerge out of barks of trees or from vegetables, fruits etc. are Udbhija.

Who then is Brahma? The following verse explains it-

Ati kalyāna uūpatvāt nitya kalyāna samshrayāt
Smartrūnām phaladāt vāchha Brahma tan mangalam viduh

Meaning- He who grants extreme auspiciousness (Ati Kalyāna) while himself remaining in eternal auspiciousness; He who fulfils the wishes of the devotees as soon as they ask, is Brahma.

822 & 823. Brahma-janani

Meaning- She is the mother of all Vedas. Here Vedas are being referred to as Brahma.

(This name is also split as two different names- Brahma and Janani).

824. Bahu-rūpā

Meaning- She manifests in innumerable forms.

It is She who has manifested in the form of this entire visible world. She appears in the form of all the living and non-living things in this universe. Seeing the Lord in every being and in every object is true spirituality.

825. Budhārcitā

Meaning- The wise, greatly-learned, knowledgeable persons (jnani, budha) worship Her.

826. Prasavitrī

Meaning- This entire universe emerged from Her womb.

AS She has given birth to this universe, She is its mother. Savitri also symbolizes that She manifests as the Sun.

827. Pracaṇḍā

Meaning- She takes on a ferocious angry form. Even deities are terrified of her ferocious form.

828. Ājñā

Meaning- Her command (ājñā) is the ultimate law.

Through Vedas and Shastras She voices Her commands clearly. Vedas dictate the commands harshly and strictly. In the Shastras (scriptures), She has explained the same commands in a more easy way so that her children can smoothly understand.

829. Pratiṣṭā

Meaning- She is steadfast and firm. Only Paramatma can entertain an steadfast immobile mind and remain firmly in that manner.

830. Prakaṭākṛtiḥ

Meaning- Although being inherently in an unmanifest state, She takes on a clear and evident form (ākṛti) so that She can be easily reached by Her devotees.
