These mantra’s can be chanted by everyone daily.
3. Perform kushmanda (pumpkin) or narikela (coconut) dana seva

Today is Makha nakshatra. This nakshatra is very dear to Shiva. So those born under this star should do Shiva smarana or visit Venkateswara svami kshetra such as Tirupati or Datta Venkateswara swami in Mysuru for shanti.

The parihara’s for each Pada are given below.
Pada 1:
1. vastra danam (donating clothes and blankets) for poor people pleases Shiva.
2. Harivamsa parayana should be done
Pada 2:
1. Jaladanam should be done during magha masam. Jaladanam refers to donating water purifiers, installing water tanks etc in schools, old age homes, childrens’ homes, hospitals and ashramas.
2. Perform gopuja
3. Perform or get someone to perform Gayatri japa
Pada 3:
1. bhumi danam (donating a piece of land to a poor person). This is very difficult to do nowadays, so instead donate something useful to those in need.
2. Rudra smarana or rudradhyayam parayana should be done
Pada 4:
1. Prayaga snanam (taking a dip in the triveni sangamam at Allahabad) should be undertaken in Magha masam
2. Shiva / Durga / Vishnu smarana should be done.

This evening Sri Swamiji will be starting a new pravacchanam (discourse) on padaravinda shatakam. Everyone can bring a copy of the book and do parayana. If you sit here and listen with Sraddha and bhakti, by the 7th day of the pravacchana you will have Ammavaru Pada darshanam (vision of devi’s feet) Ammavaru padalu are how we see our Appaji’s feet during the Navaratri.

Only the Guru-seva we do goes with us. There is nothing else we can take with us. So we must always do Guru seva. It will protect us in times of need.

Sri Guru Datta.
