This month of Kartika is exceptionally auspicious and powerful. People waste their time in pursuit of food and fun, instead of contemplating on God and awakening their inner Light. Offer lamps to God, to inspire the inner light to get kindled.
So many different deities are introduced and so many different temples are built, to attract people onto the good path. So many lineages of Gurus are there to guide them on the right path. Yet, people are squandering away their lives.
In every family, in every group there is one evil person, a messenger from the God of Death who influences the others to follow bad ways. People do not recognize them. Some relative is there, some so-called friend. He is not an Avadhoota, he is a Yama doota. He will argue like an atheist, he will create quarrels, and he will give convincing examples from his own family members and friends. He is a true representative from the God of Death. It is a strategy to increase the population in the world of Yama. The constant preoccupation in many families is with children. These representatives from the world of Death increase this tendency. This is my personal experience. Please listen to my words. These are words of Truth from Sadguru. Follow Sadguru’s words. You must teach your children who are super achievers in worldly matters but do not believe in God. They also boast about their lack of belief in God and absence of faith. The parents of such children also boast about such children. They are not even ashamed to speak of it. Does not your conscience pinch you? You are killing your own soul. You give them examples from Bhagavatam, from Ramayana, from the Upanishads, from the Bhagavad Gita. You introduce them to worship. Hundreds of thousands of people are studying Swamiji’s teachings. 46,000 people are daily reading Swamiji’s words. In the beginning so many people were criticizing this activity. Swamiji, this is not good, they were saying, claiming that only 400 people are reading, and so on, as if they were doing me a favor. Don’t do like this Swamiji, they were advising me.

So many hospitals are built for humans, for them them to have repeated surgeries. In spite of spending a fortune on treatments, this body has to be left in the end. Kindness to animals is most important. Yet, in India there are no hospitals for animals and birds, as they do in the USA. There are hospitals for cats, dogs, cows, and even donkeys, but there are very few hospitals for birds. Those who support the establishment of hospitals for birds are truly noble. There are countless living beings in water. When we were in the mother’s womb, we were like aquatic creatures. For the first few months, the infant takes the form and features of such creatures, as a fish and a turtle. After that stage, land animals is the next stage as four legged beings. That stage is followed by avian creatures that fly in the air. That is the process of evolution prior to the human stage. To reach the ultimate end, we have to fulfill our Swadharma, our individual ordained duties. That leads to the lifestyle of renunciation which eventually leads to Liberation. This is not our planet. This is only a leased house that is temporary. This body house is also no permanent. What have you done in that direction in your life? You are doing good deeds and following Sadguru.
Chitragupta, (the assistant to the Lord of Death) is keeping a record of all your misdeeds, lies, deception, cruelty, and all your good deeds such as how much chanting of God’s name you have done, how much help you have rendered, how much you have absorbed the essence of Sadguru’s teachings. How much of it do you remember, and how much do you practice? The five elements are witnesses to all your deceptions and lies, and all the diamond-like precious teachings of Sadguru that you have grasped. He keeps a chart, a log, a balance sheet. The result of that accounting may put you in hell. You have to study the scriptures like the Vedas, Puranas, and other scriptures and justify your human existence. The birds are closest to us. Suka Brahma (in the form of a parrot) is responsible for giving us the Bhagavatam. Sage Valmiki was inspired by a bird to compose the Ramayana. We need to do some service to birds. They are suffering. I have noticed. Now we have opened a new hospital for injured birds. The birds keep chanting the names of God and Guru. They say 24 hours a day Datta, Rama, Appaji, Swamiji. Men eat and sleep. But the birds (parrots) keep repeating the names of God. It is so beautiful to listen to them. The service we render is minimal. Lord Brahma has a huge hospital. But ours is so tiny that I am ashamed of its smallness. If there are any inadequacies in our behavior, the sympathy of birds towards us will save us. Unknowingly or knowingly we have made mistakes. We have to pray for forgiveness. Sage Suka gave advice to King Pareekshith who was cursed to die in a week’s time. Sage Suka gave him knowledge within those seven days to qualify him for salvation.
After Bhajan session today I will come to take photographs with your families, along with a parrot, to help the Bird Hospital. What you spend on transportation within town, on a restaurant bill, on a shirt, that amount if you sacrifice to help the birds that sing Rama, and Datta, you will be doing a great service.
