Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – 2nd Anniversary of Sri Raja Rajeshwari Devi and Sri Hari Sannidhi Temples – December 6, 2025 – Mysore
The Shimshumara salagrama relates to the pole star. In that region, in the sky, Jupiter will appear close to the moon at around 8:40pm IST, because today we did the Devi temple festival. Jupiter has drawn the moon close to it. Make sure you see it in the sky.
Small clouds eclipse such big stars and planets. So regardless of the intense rituals we do, some impurities block the flow of Jnana. The sky is very big; we cannot even describe it. Our Earth is tiny as a mustard seed in that realm. We play with such ego about our achievements, but we live in this mustard seed. We cannot be seen even with a magnifying glass. There are crores of such planets. Each star has its own system. Countless such systems make the Milky Way. There are countless milky ways. Science hasn’t seen the end of it.
The moon is the closest celestial body. We are already celebrating building homes on the moon in the future. We cannot see the Chandra mandala. It takes 280 years to reach it. It takes us 1000 years to traverse the Milky Way. There isn’t a machine that can travel that long. Then what about us? There is not enough we can learn about ourselves. At the end we do not know. We act like we know, but we do not. We are so proud to just visit the tall building in Dubai, let alone go elsewhere outside Earth.
This Creation is eternal. It’s been there forever. Man came as a being and then grew up like a big monkey. We are all like monkeys without tails. Check your behind and you’ll see the stub of that tail. This one salagrama represents a nakshatra. The salagrama relates to the names we encounter in the Sahasrama – Vittala, etc.
Each salagrama is like a mandala in the sky. No need to fear having a salagrama. It’s easy to worship it. It’s better even to place it in water. Every single salagrama has so much power. It gives us such an aura.
If we worship each salagrama as Vishnu, that is enough. Vishnu – because He is the invisible Paramatma. Beholding one salagrama is at par with seeing a milky way mandala which has billions of stars.
This Earth too appears like a tiny little star to those outside. Akasha has certain air that we cannot breathe, but devatas can. One Milky Way to another is 80 crore lakhs years of travel.
First we had only water, and then a tiny earth formed on it. Then came agni, then Vayu and then ether. It takes several days to go to the moon. We cannot even find the address of Gau loka. We talk of Vaikuntha, but we cannot go there.
There is a lot Swamiji can tell you. An online channel made a nice video on this topic. I watched it yesterday. You can watch too. We should all download and watch. The channel owner showed how man was acting. We all act recklessly. We are nothing, not even tiny bugs in this Creation. If we watch the video, we won’t even feel like eating food. Every day I get a video from NASA.
So if you have Darshan of one salagrama, it’s like Darshan of one Brahmanda/macrocosm. You cannot ever get a photo of the macrocosm. All worlds together (all 14) make one world. That is called Brahmanda or macrocosm. But there are countless macrocosms. You must be from some macrocosm; you came here somehow.
You should take Jnana with you from this birth, but you take sins instead. Merely listening to bad words or insults of Guru incurs sin. Just having it fall on our hearts is enough to wipe out all our punya. That is why yogis go away from this world and live in the Himalayas. So too, even having divine names fall on our ears is enough to get punya.
I went to a house in Chennai where they insisted their little girl sing for Swamiji. I asked her to sing. She sang a Vitthala song. She sang “Vitthala Langa…” Langa means long skirt in Telugu. She sang “Lama Govinda…Pandulanga Vittala”. She said La in place of Ra. She speaks well now. I blessed that she be able to utter Ra correctly. She enunciates correctly now. In that home, they worship the salagrama every day. The father first worships the salagram and then goes to work. He showed Me all the salagramas he had. If you have even one salagrama, it is good, you’ll need to systematically worship it.
These days, they are also making salagramas. What can one do?
Millions of years ago, insects called vajrakeeta (vajra=diamond, keeta=insect) ate only the stone while buzzing with the sound Om, Shreem. For thousands of years, they lived inside the stone. Finally, they leave the stone. Once the insect leaves, water enters the stone. There are countless salagramas emerging from those places (near Nepal). Europeans too take it home and place it on the cupboard. We worship them.
Each salagram is like a Brahmanda. Each salagram represents a nakshatra. Shimshumara existed even before Markandeya. He kept Dhruva (pole star) next to him. He appears in the form of a scorpion. The pole star appears to be in the tail of the scorpion. The idol here (at Hari Sannidhi) is of Shimshumara. Such a salagram is very superior.
You are all lucky to have darshan of these salagramas.
Recap in Hindi: Each salagrama represents a Brahmanda (macrocosm). There are so many macrocosms. There are so many salagrams here. Many salagrams emerge from Gandaki river – trillions of salagramas are emerging from it. Once the vajrakeeta dies, water enters the salagrama. We pick up such salagramas and worship them. Having darshan of even one salagram, and worship of it gives the merit of doing big yajnas.
Today marks two years since we consecrated this temple. Swamiji has been collecting these salagramas from His childhood. Devotees have given some salagramas, while some devotees in Nepal too have given some.
You are all fortunate. You had darshan and also chanted the Bhagavad Gita.
