Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – Bhajans – March 18, 2026 – SGS Ashrama, Dundigal, Bhagyanagaram, Hyderabad
Yugas are rolling. Yugadi is coming and going. We are experiencing good and bad days. It feels like goodness and peace is not growing in us. It feels like sadhana is not progressing. Peace, tolerance and forgiveness are important. When do we attain completeness, when do we become a fulfilled person? When can the person gain fulfillment here and hereafter?
When the person gains peace, patience and forgiveness, the person gains fulfillment. When we practice these, we become fulfilled.
Even the person who has these sometimes slips and loses patience, loses forbearance/forgiveness. We should stubbornly do sadhana on these while living in this samsara and in these problems. That is the important goal for us. It is not building the house and getting married. We should show children the right path. Since we have children, we should set our path right. This is not the real sadhana.
Real sadhana is the developing of peace, patience and forgiveness. These will purify the mind and sanctify it. Be peaceful no matter what ups and downs come our way. You can respond a little, but be peaceful. Every person must have peace, without which one cannot attain Jnana. Many say they cannot get Jnana despite coming to Sadguru. You have not tried. You must eat to remove hunger, drink water to quench your thirst. You are pretending to try to gain jnana, but are not really.
Water is always heated by fire. Water boils due to heat. The water tries to escape that heat. The natural quality of water is to be cool. So, when the heated water is set aside, it loses the heat and becomes cool – regaining its nature. We too should go back to our nature. God gave us peace, but we are not going back to it.
Man gets crushed under lack of peace in life. He loses peace, but tries to gain tranquility. What is the way to do this?
In the Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna Paramatma said – Indriya Nigraha – sense restraint is one way. Without this, the eyes wander, the ears want gossip, the tongue wants tastes. So, the one without viveka/discernment will not even want to contemplate on God. The one who has no peace cannot have happiness. Therefore, if man wants eternal happiness, first earn mental peace. We cannot sit in one place peacefully for 10 minutes. We are too fickle. This mental peace is obtained only when we contemplate on Paramatma Tattva.
What is the first name of Maha Vishnu?
Shantiħ.
It is the Shanti combined with Satya/truth. (Satya is the second name). By seeking refuge with Him, we gain peace, because we contemplate on Him and His stories and the stories of our own lives fade from our mind. That is why the Guru gives you so many methods – sing bhajans, write bhajans, write divine names, etc. Guru gives so many ways. That does not give moksha. These give you peace. Chanting Lalita Sahasra Nama will directly bestow moksha. As you keep doing it, Guru will ask you do it one lakh times, then you forget your bad habits and your senses will forget their bad tendencies. You will gain peace. It is peace with truth.
Second – patience. Life is a combination of joys and sorrows. That is why during every Ugadi, we make the chutney made of all tastes because our life has all tastes. Many insults come our way in life. We should not count them or contemplate on them. New ones come our way, so forget about them as quickly as they come our way. The ability to tolerate them is patience.
Sri Maha Vishnu’s third name is Sahishnu – one who has forbearance.
When we chant His names, His qualities come to us. When we do Guru Puja every day, His qualities come to us, the Guru gains nothing.
To gain patience and peace, we should seek refuge in God because the patience is very necessary in following Dharma. That is when we gain punya. If we keep losing temper at home, problems will not be solved. The one at the receiving end in fact becomes distant. Some angry people show their anger at everyone along their way. The man upset at the office yells at his wife at home, making the wife distant too. You must leave the anger then and there. You must smile at the next person.
This can be resolved only with patience. Similarly, being in hurry does not help. People want results fast. There is time. Haste ruins the rewards/fruits too.
Patience is very important in society; this quality is gained with God’s grace too. We sometimes mistake patience for incompetence. That is not correct. Patience makes one an elevated soul. You may wonder why Swamiji is not scolding the person who criticized Swamiji as he entered the Ashrama gate. That man’s quality is to blame, Swamiji’s quality is to be patient.
Patience can even make one a Devata. To become a good person, one needs patience.
Third – forgiveness. This is a great quality. Many think this is a sign of weakness. No.
The hatred hidden in the mind until then is instantly wiped away when one has forgiveness, if not the mind feels heavily. burdened.
Forgiveness is the real ornament of a courageous person and a warrior. If man has the heart to forgive, his mind becomes pure, his peace increases. Forgiveness is a divine quality.
The offender will not repeat his mistakes; he will be embarrassed. Or, he might think you are just a stubborn person, or might think you are weak. Let them. Victory lies in overcoming our hatred, more than in impressing that person.
Maha Vishnu has a fourth name – Ksamaha.
This quality removes many difficulties and problems.
For men and women, patience is the decoration. I used to always remind Myself of this sookti.
Kshata daanam, kshama satyam, kshama yajnascha putrika, kshama yashah, kshama dharmaha, kshamaya vishtitam jagat.
Patience is charity, truth, yajna, fame, dharma, this entire world of moving an unmoving stands because of patience.
So, everyone must act with peace, patience and forgiveness. Then, the person will rise in worldly and spiritual life and gain great fruits and will become a role model for all. He will be worthy of worship by all.
So, may peace, patience and forgiveness increase in you all by the grace of Mother Goddess.
Remember this well and do sadhana on this. We have many ways to turn the mind towards this. Dhyana, Puja, Meditation, Bhagavatam, Guru Gita, Bhajans….we have so many methods to protect our concentration and stabilize the mind. Now, we have the flute for pranayama. If you do sadhana with concentration, you will see how well your mind will calm down.
Practice for 10 minutes, take a break, practice for 10 minutes and repeat. Drink enough water. The elbows should move freely, so don’t have arm rests and other objects in the way of moving your arms.
Breathe slowly and play the flute. First, you must learn to blow correctly into the flute, until then, you don’t move the fingers. First, you must make sound with the flute, they will teach you the high, middle and lower pitch, you should be able to generate those sounds. Be careful not to practice in the middle of the night, your landlord might ask you to vacate the house. You will not be able to play a song on the flute within one day. Practice slowly. First make the sound correctly and then, you can play the 7 notes after.
Once you can play those 7 notes, you will not give it go. Second, it is pranayama. Please do not do concerts. We do not want them. This is only for your lungs and minds to be cleansed.
Children can of course learn the flute fully. Even retired personnel are now learning the flute and some of them have come back and done concerts at Mysuru, but this is rare.
It is very easy to get discouraged playing the flute because you cannot play it easily. Anything you play with the hands – Veena or Violin or percussion, you can make a sound, but instruments like flute, clarinet, etc., can be very disappointing at first. The mind, the fingers and the breath must all come together. It’s like driving, you hold the clutch, the wheel and also stay vigilant to see what’s coming your way. One second of negligence or snnooze is enough for an accident.
You must keep looking around, you must keep peaceful in the car even though the family is shouting or fighting or the child is crying because she is buckled up. Then, there’s a lot of traffic, you must stay very alert. And if the driver has had alcohol, that makes things worse.
So, playing the flute is like driving – it needs effort.
One great flutist would only play the flute when he was drunk. A great violinist once told this man that he would show him Swamiji, and requested him not to drink that one day. That man showered and got ready and was about to head out in the car, but asked for a minute to go back into the house for the keys, but used that time to drink a little. The violinist chided him, but had to bring him in as promised.
The violinist asked him not to open his mouth, and said he would speak on the flutist’s behalf. But when the flutist saw Swamiji, he opened his mouth in joy and fell at Swamiji’s feet. He had swallowed a whole bottle of alcohol in the minute he had stepped away to drink.
But he came and played the flute so well, it felt like Sri Krishna was playing. Please do not drink and come play the flute tomorrow. Your mother will whack you. You will have air coming out of places other than your mouth.
Bhajan ID 2140 – sāma gāna lōla sumadhura
Bhajan ID 275 – dattāvadhūta svāmī kāvave
This is how my peace is – let Ugadi come when it does.I thought it was a few days away.
Since the day after tomorrow is the first day of the new year, we will do Pancha Utsavas that day while Swamiji is present here. Then, you can do it every full moon day. It is very great. All diseases, afflictions and problems go away. It also bestows Jnana besides doing a lot of good.
I pray that the fear and climate of war subside. The wars and the fear gather in the clouds and there will be problems with rain in the future and the aquatic life will also suffer. I already said that we are getting close to destruction in Kaliyuga. We are fighting over land that does not belong to us, it belongs to God anyway.
An old man came to Swamiji saying he lost 50 years of life fighting court battles over land. I had told him over 20 years ago not to get into the court battles and to go give the land to the Ashrama, but he realized now that Swamiji was right, when he lost the court fight.
There is a lot of land grab happening here in Hyderabad. It is better for Datta Devotees to lose court fights rather than waste their entire lives in court. They compete to make bombs. Innocent lives are lost. The decision makers sit in air conditioned rooms and press buttons and the innocent people and service men and women die. If they die, they at least go to higher worlds, but when they lose arms or legs or other body parts, life gets so difficult.
God gave us this life; we should strive for Shanti. No point in fear-mongering. We must always give courage, not add to the fear. We should hide some of the tragedies and dangers coming, we should not create fear. To remove the fear of war, to pray for peace in Nature, we do this. Mother Earth has seen so many fierce battles, disasters, etc. Mother Earth has great patience, peace and forbearance.
We are doing Panchotsavas here in the presence of Swamiji. Ugadi takes place tomorrow, I thought it was after.
You have to wait in long line to have Darshan. Some people refuse to take short cuts or VIP lines for Darshan. It is a divine opportunity to stand in life and wait for darshan. It will not come again and again. The others in line will curse you and their sins will come to you if you skip that line and find. short cut. It’s okay to wait in line, no need for VIP line.
Swamiji is sitting for 6 hours for you, can you not wait for 30 minutes to see Swamiji?
We will meet again tomorrow, the day after we will have panchotsava sevas.
(A new MP3 pendrive is released that contains Swamiji’s bhajans.)
Everyone must get this bhajans pen drive. You will not get this again. Do not copy and share this music. Swamiji worked very hard to create this music. If needed, you can buy for them. You can keep 4-5 at home and give to those who need them.
Everyone buy 2-3 copies, but about 5-6 if you are able to. You can give gift them to others. While gifting, tell them what I said to you about not making copies. Other items you gift will be thrown away over time, but this will let them come closer to Swamiji. i am very happy that at weddings now, people are gifting Jayalakshmi Mata Prakruti Products or vouchers for those products. can take another flute and go to other teachers if you wish.
